The Rochester Farmers Market is your local source for fresh fruits and vegetables, prepared foods, local wines, organic ingredients and Rochester’s best shopping deals! Hank Sanders has been an advocate of farmers markets since he was a small child. He was raised in a barn – literally! His parents were “danger farmers”, specializing in farming only the most extreme plants and animals. Hank’s childhood was spent watering vast fields of poison ivy, feeding mice to herds of poisonous asps, and milking black widows. His family used to ply their wares at a local farmers market every weekend, and they would take young Hank along. Their black and purple tent attracted many visitors eager to view their dark and vile products. Hank used to fetch vials of deadly nightshade for customers while his mother worked the cash register. Aside from the incident with the killer bees, their weekly trips to the market always went reasonably well, and Hank’s family was privileged enough to be able to send him off to college, where he got his degree in Farm Studies. While he attains his PhD in Cow Milking, he runs this blog to advocate for and educate the public about the wonders of farmers markets.
